African Crossroads

A community of future-oriented African thinkers and doers.

2019-2021
African Crossroads is…
  • a community which collaborates all year long and critically reflects on the most cutting-edge entrepreneurial, scientific, artistic, and technological developments anchored in African intellectual and technological traditions.
  • a yearly physical & virtual gathering to inspire and showcase experiments on a given topic.
We served as the tech and communication leads for African Crossroads in 2021 & 2020.

“We all want a United Africa, united not only in our concept of what unity can connote, but united in our common desire to move forward together and dealing with all the problems that can best be solved only on a continental basis.” _Kwame Nkrumah, 1963

ECO-EXISTENCE

Hybrid Online and Offline
14th-15th October 2021

IT ALL STARTED WITH A QUESTION…

“WHAT DOES CLIMATE JUSTICE MEAN FOR AFRICANS?”

Welcome to the 2021 edition of African Crossroads, an experiment to intentionally build synergies between individual practices; to spread awareness, knowledge and practice about the changing relationship between humans, nature and technology; to organise societies in an ecologically benefitting manner for all forms of life.

PAN-AFRICAN DREAM

Hybrid Online and Offline
10th-11th December 2020

For the first time in 3 years, members of this network experience what it feels to be borderless, to come together from across Africa and diaspora, and to reimagine what it feels to be united.

Under the theme of ``Re-imagining the pan-African dream

- reflecting on the past, experiencing the present and imagining the future``,

the 2020 edition balances an online and offline program of workshops, discussions, installations, augmented reality, live performances, and virtual exhibitions, with a complimentary ``Bira`` performance from our guest of Honor, Thomas Mapfumo.

Our founder & director, Adrian Jankowiak, was involved as a participant of 2019 African Crossroads that took place in Mombasa, Kenya | Nov 20-23.
